Fellow RCP Residents and Interested Neighbors –
Please join me for our December LU & TC meeting scheduled for next Thurs., Dec. 18th, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the German-American Society, 5626 NE Alameda. We will be having guest speakers and anticipate a fairly good turn-out due to the topics. The agenda includes:
- PPS Consideration of Re-Opening RCP Elementary School. Speakers Jon Issacs, Chief of Communications & Public Affairs, and Chair Pam Knowles, PPS Board, will discuss concerns regarding over-crowding at the Beverly-Cleary Campus. A top recommendation has been the idea of sending the children in K-3rd grades located between NE 47th and NE 57th to RCP Elementary School. Concerns about education and resource parity have been raised. Recommendation requested.
- Mixed Use Zone Concerns. The proposed Mixed Use Zone is replacing all of the Commercial Zones in the city with the Comprehensive Plan Update. The new language proposes Medium Mixed Use for Sandy Blvd. with a max. height of 45 ft./ 4-stories with the option to go higher if the developer adds public amenities to the development. Note: this increased height option exceeds the height limited approved for parts of Sandy Blvd. with the Hollywood and Sandy Blvd. Plan. Additional concerns are that no language exists that would limit a Low or Medium Mixed Use zone from becoming rezoned as High Mixed Use, with maximum heights up to 10 stories. Deadline for comments is March 13, 2015
