Our newsletter is delivered to your door by volunteers 4 times a year. We are always looking for volunteers for delivery and to write articles. We also hope our neighborhood businesses will consider advertising.

We have Subcommittees that both board members and community members can, and do, participate in.
Communications – we are responsible for all social media, website, newsletter, publicity and otherwise supporting the Board in getting the word out. Please contact us at communications@rcpna.org. Erich is our fearless leader.
Concerts and Entertainment – this committee has been headed by strong leaders in Craig and Larry. They not only work very hard each summer with the Hollywood Neighborhood Association to setup two incredible summer concerts in Rose City Park but they secure great music for all of our general meetings. Environmental – this a reconstituted committee thanks to one of our newer Board members, Dave Gates. They are working on their emphasis and planning activities. To contact them, please email environment@rcpna.org.
Land Use & Transportation – this is our largest subcommittee made up of many of you from our community. They are very engaged with all related subjects like Infill, demolitions, traffic concerns and parking issues. Questions, please contact Tamara at tderidder@rcpna.org. Hi Tamara and Board –
I am applying with the City Repair project to paint the intersection at NE 61st Ave and Tillamook Street on May 30-31 (or the following weekend if it rains). I have gotten 4 cans of street paint donated from Benjamin Moore paints but will need a LOT MORE to do the job.
With City Repairs support, I can get the paint at a huge discount and all I have to do is bring the immediate community together to sign a petition approving the design and have a few potlucks to build the community spirit. The entire cost of the paint and permits should be less than $1000 (between $500 and $1000 is the estimate). Would RCPNA be able to fund this project??
And maybe even help me get the word out about it? I have posted on NextDoor and had 5 or 6 people say they’d be willing to help paint. I will get some music to play and get neighbors to have a potluck for general merriment. Of course, if other neighbors in RCP want to o their corner too, it could be a great learning experience!
I know you have a meeting tomorrow night so I’m hoping maybe you can discuss it.

Yesterday, 4/6/15, I talked to Michael Roth about the RCPNA Environmental Committee. About 10 years ago I was on this committee, with Michael, and I helped him with the RCPNA yard awards, and I also coordinated the Friends of Trees planting back when it was less of a computer generated/registration operation. Michael told me he was concentrating more on his new(ish) job these days, and the Environmental Committee was not currently active, and he encouraged me to reach out to you to see if we could re-invigorate efforts in that arena. I am interested in coordinating the RCPNA Environmental Committee. If you could contact me in the near future in this regard I would appreciate it.

Hello Tamara and RCPNA Board,
I am a volunteer for Resolutions Northwest (RNW). RNW is a non-profit organization that provides free mediation and facilitation services as well as a variety of training events, dialogues, and a network for restorative justice in the schools.
Since 2002, RNW has been funded by the City of Portland to offer free neighbor-to-neighbor conflict resolution, helping to resolve everyday conflicts related to noise, property lines, and communication. If you think this would be of interest to the Rose City Park Neighborhood Association, I would be happy to come to your next meeting and speak briefly about our services.
In looking at your calendar, I see that your next board meeting is on May 7. Would this be a convenient time for me to give a 15-minute presentation and Q&A on RNW? If this date is not good, are there other dates you would suggest?

Hello Portland Neighbors:
Please forgive the group nature of this email, but the past week has been so packed with Pembina action that it’s been difficult to keep up with email.
As you may know, Mayor Hales withdrew his support for the Pembina propane export terminal last Thursday. On Tuesday, the hearing date of June 10 was removed from the City Council agenda – with the note that it would not be rescheduled. See this Mercury article:

Although the recent withdrawal of City backing for this project is good news, the fight goes on. Many people feel that Pembina and the Port will use influence and money to work around the City Council-controlled zoning issue. We are still gathering resolutions and/or letters that specifically oppose Pembina – we will need them!
Step Two involves Portland’s Climate Action Plan (CAP). The CAP will go before City Council on June 24th. Within the next week you will be hearing more about how your Neighborhood Association can show support for a ban on all new fossil fuel export or transfer terminals.

Hello Neighbors, Neighborhood Representatives, and Property Owners,
The City of Portland’s Title 33 Planning and Zoning Code Section 33.207 allows me to rent up to two
bedrooms in my residence to overnight guests on a short-term basis (less than 30 days). You are receiving
this notice because as part of the permit application I am required to mail or deliver this notice to the
Neighborhood Association and District Coalition of Neighborhoods in which my home is located; the property
owner, if not me; and all property owners with property abutting or directly across the street from my
