Not to discredit its history and any current use, but what do neighborhood residents think about Erv Lind Stadium at Normandale Park? Our family uses the park regularly and it seems the stadium is dated and underutilized; that moving/removing it could vitalize the park by opening up valuable additional green space for park-goers, especially families, to enjoy. It’s my feeling there might be strong support for such an effort.
Maybe expand it’s uses? How about a dance performance venue?? Music??
This is a highly valued space by all those who play baseball and softball in the Portland/Metro area. My PT, who lives in Washougal, coaches his son’s little league and they played at the Erv Lind Stadium last Friday in a tournament. So, getting rid of it is highly unlikely. But, maybe they could lay down an astroturf or other protective medium to enable use of the site for other functions when it is not booked for a game?
I meant to say last Sunday for the little league game… T
I will forward your idea on to our committee. Thanks!
I would like to propose adding 2 or 3 benches on Sacramento Ridge. Do some sort of fundraiser for it. There are beautiful views there of Mt. Hood and the golf course and I’ve often wished there were benches up there to sit down and enjoy the views.
Excellent idea, Lise. I will forward this on to our committee!
